On December 17th 2010, the beginning of the Arab Spring occured. It all started when a vendor in Tunisia had his vegetable cart taken from him by the police. He refused to be treated this way and resorted to lighting himself on fire in an act of protest, which then sparked the Arab Spring. The Arab Spring was a spread of democratic uprisings across the Arab world. This then inspired Egyptians to protest against their government and make an important change in their country. As the rebelling continued, Mubarak, Egypt's president of 30 years, finally agreed to step down. Many important events followed this resignation and the revolution is still active today.
